Bid4efficiency Program

The Bid4efficiency Program is an online reverse auction for financial incentives aimed at large projects expected to receive over $25,000 in incentives. During the auction, pre-qualified customers and Solution Providers can submit bids to deliver energy savings at a price per annual kilowatt hour saved or Watts reduced for projects occurring in 2019.

Auctions may be held separately for customers and for Solution Providers, with the possibility of auctions being held for specific technologies and incentive amounts as well. The pre-qualified bidder(s) with the lowest bid prices will be eligible for incentive awards ranging from $25,000 to $500,000 for the completion of energy efficiency projects.

If you have a large project scheduled to be implemented prior to the end of November 2018 with over $25,000 in calculated incentives and did not participate in the 2017-2018 auction, you still have options. Contact one of our 2018 Auction winners that have reserved money through the auction or contact Angie Rybalt for Default Rate alternatives,

Who can participate in the 2018-2019 auctions?

  • AEP Ohio non-residential customers
  • AEP Ohio Solution Providers that complete projects for AEP Ohio customers

New for 2018-2019

  • Projects or Solution Providers that deliver 50% or more of their awarded auction incentive savings after project verification will also receive an additional incentive bonus of up to $0.025 per kWh saved. Projects or Solution Providers that use 80% of their award amount will receive a bonus of $0.005 per kWh saved.
  • Incentive amounts awarded during the auction can be doubled by AEP Ohio if the awardee uses up all of their initially awarded funding. This allows for projects and Solution Providers to feel confident in working towards using all of their funding without having to worry about going over their initially-awarded number.
  • Auction winners’ logos will be included on both the AEP Ohio website and in AEP Ohio newsletters in an effort to increase exposure to the customer base.

Eligible Projects Must

  • Be pre-approved prior to implementation
  • Meet all program requirements as stated in the RFQ and Program Guidelines
  • Projects must be at locations within the state of Ohio and must hold an AEP Ohio electric account number
  • Projects must have a minimum payback, based on first year electricity costs savings, of at least one year

How The Program Works

  • Interested customers and Solution Providers should review and respond to the Request for Qualifications (RFQ).
  • Auctions are typically held in the fall for the following year.
  • Response requirements are outlined in the RFQ document.
  • Customers and Solution Providers that submit a response to the RFQ will receive a notification of receipt from the Program Administrator.
  • Once pre-qualified for an auction, customers and Solution Providers will be able to participate in the subsequent auction event for which they are eligible.
