Keeping the Power On - Our Commitment to You

We’re working hard every day to ensure you have safe, reliable electricity - we know we have more work to do. It’s our job to keep your lights on and we do so by inspecting and repairing equipment and poles, installing new technology and improving the grid. Below is a snapshot of some of the projects we’re working on in communities across Ohio.

This work is part of an ongoing plan that began in 2019 to improve reliability for our customers. Over the course of five years (2019-2023), AEP Ohio will invest nearly $2 billion in infrastructure improvements.

2023 Improvements by the Numbers

  • Reviewing 6,500+ miles of power lines to identify any problems and make repairs
  • Inspecting 74,000+ poles to identify any problems and make necessary repairs
  • Inspecting and trimming trees along 8,500+ miles of power lines to help prevent outages
  • Installing power rerouters to better pinpoint issues and divert power away from problems
  • Proactively identifying and fixing issues to eliminate problems
  • Improving how power gets to your home with enhanced technology
