PSO Adds ´Kids Korner´ To Web Site

August 17, 2007

For most kids, the fun of learning about their energy company probably doesn’t compare to their favorite video game or television show.  But PSO has added a new section to its web site that could change that.  ‘Kids Korner’ delivers engaging and informative activities for kids that will educate them and entertain them at the same time.

Using colorful animations, playful graphics, interactive games, puzzles, science experiments, house projects and online coloring books, Kids Korner explores everything from power generation sources, transmission and distribution to electrical safety, energy efficiency and utility careers.  You can access the information at PSOklahoma.com.

“Kids love to learn in interactive ways,” said Carole Huff Hicks, Community Affairs Manager, PSO.  “The Kids Korner section of our web site is a way of reaching out to kids with something fun to do that can really make an impact on them in terms of their education.”

Despite what the name suggests, this new section is hardly reserved to a corner of the web site. Several other areas of the site have been cross-linked to related pages within Kids Korner.  With over 100 pages in Kids Korner, its addition to the site creates helpful educational avenues on nearly every page.

“We believe that our company provides an important service to the people of Oklahoma, and part of that service is to educate all of our customers, not just the ones paying the bill, about the nuts and bolts of that service,” Hicks added. “Kids Korner is not only  a source of entertainment for kids, but an immensely useful tool for people of all ages.”

PSO, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), is an electric utility company serving approximately 520,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.  Based in Tulsa, PSO has more than 4,000 megawatts of generating capacity, and is the largest provider of wind energy in the state.  News releases and other information about PSO can be found on the World Wide Web at PSOklahoma.com.
