As part of our efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19, we have temporarily suspended face-to-face meetings with customers. We are taking extra precautions and have tree crews who are well trained and equipped in COVID-19 prevention. However, our forestry crews will continue to trim and clear trees around our power lines and equipment - this maintenance work is critical to keeping your power flowing. If work is scheduled on your property, we’ll attempt to call you in advance. Please be sure your contact information is up to date.
We love trees. We just hate power outages.
Fallen trees and branches are one of the most common causes of power outages. Interfering limbs can slow down our crews working to get the power back on following an outage. That’s why AEP Ohio has a comprehensive program to manage trees and brush that grow around our lines and equipment—and it’s been shown to improve the reliability of our service.
At least every four years, you may encounter our crews in your neighborhood assessing the trees around our lines and equipment and trimming back or removing any threats. We use our expertise and know-how to spot and remove threatening limbs, keeping the safety of our crews, communities and infrastructure in mind.
These efforts help provide safe, reliable electric service, while keeping in mind the health and beauty of the trees where you live, work and play. Learn more about our crews and their qualifications here.
