AEP Ohio Plans Utility Work Impacting I-71 Near Polaris Parkway

May 22, 2023

AEP Ohio is planning overhead power line installation on I-71 near Polaris Parkway and Gemini Place.

Weather permitting, aerial utility work begins Tuesday, May 23, and continues through Thursday, May 25 between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Company representatives plan the following:

  • Start the slow roll of traffic at I-71 northbound ramp from I-270
  • 10–15-minute temporary lane closures on I-71 using rolling roadblocks
  • Closure of the southbound I-71 ramps from Polaris Parkway during the rolling roadblocks
  • Closure of the I-71 southbound ramp from Gemini Place during the rolling roadblocks

Drivers can expect signage, cones, barricades and flaggers during construction. Lane closures in the project area will occur Tuesday through Thursday between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all work zones.

The aerial crossing utility work is part of AEP Ohio’s Polaris-Westar 138 kV Line Upgrades Project, which helps ensure the power line meets clearance needs and supports electrical load growth in the area.
