AEP Ohio Launches New Spanish Website and Shares Severe Weather Safety Tips

May 14, 2025

GAHANNA, Ohio — AEP Ohio, an American Electric Power (Nasdaq: AEP) is proud to announce the launch of its Spanish-language website, Espanol.AEPOhio.com. Customers can now easily access essential services in Spanish, including bill payment, outage reporting, payment assistance information and more.

AEP Ohio is dedicated to providing reliable and safe electric service to all our customers. Some factors are beyond our control. Vehicle accidents and storms are some of the primary causes of power outages. When outages happen, we want you to be prepared.

Where to Find Outage Information

AEP Ohio makes it easy to get information about outages.

  • Sign up for text and email alerts at AEPOhio.com/Alerts.
  • Visit AEPOhio.com to find information about outages and estimated times for electricity to be restored. You can also find an outage map at AEPOhio.com/OutageMap.
  • Download the AEP Ohio mobile app for up-to-date information: AEPOhio.com/App.
  • AEP Ohio posts information about outages on social media. Follow us on Facebook.

Restoring Power

High winds can cause trees and branches to fall into power lines, knocking out electricity. AEP Ohio has a comprehensive year-round tree maintenance program to help manage trees and brush growing near or around our power lines and equipment. Watch this video to learn more about how our crews respond to restore power.

Severe Weather Safety Reminders

As our teams prepare for severe weather season, we want you to be prepared, too:

  • Establish or review an emergency preparedness plan and emergency kit for you and your family.
  • Contact family, friends and neighbors who are elderly or have a medical condition to ensure they have a plan — and don’t forget to include pets in your planning.
  • Secure any loose objects outside of your home, such as furniture, umbrellas or trampolines that could become airborne in strong winds.
  • Check your local forecast for the latest updates on timing and intensity.
  • Stay as far away as possible from any downed wires. Call 911 and report any hazards through the AEP Ohio mobile app or by calling AEP Ohio at (800) 672-2231.

NOTE: We strongly encourage customers with life-supporting medical equipment to have a backup power source and an alternate plan in the event of a power outage.
