Restoring Power
High winds can cause trees and branches to fall into power lines, knocking out electricity. AEP Ohio has a comprehensive year-round tree maintenance program to help manage trees and brush growing near or around our power lines and equipment. Severe Weather Safety Reminders
As our teams prepare for severe weather season, we want you to be prepared, too:
- Establish or review an emergency preparedness plan and emergency kit for you and your family.
- Contact family, friends and neighbors who are elderly or have a medical condition to ensure they have a plan — and don’t forget to include pets in your planning.
- Secure any loose objects outside of your home, such as furniture, umbrellas or trampolines that could become airborne in strong winds.
- Check your local forecast for the latest updates on timing and intensity.
- Stay as far away as possible from any downed wires. Call 911 and report any hazards through the AEP Ohio mobile app or by calling AEP Ohio at (800) 672-2231.
