OSU Station Improvement Project

We're working to upgrade equipment to support your community’s growing energy needs. Upgrades will include installation of new electric lines and equipment underground and overhead. The new equipment will help meet existing electric needs and support future growth on The Ohio State University’s Columbus campus.

As part of our equipment upgrades, construction crews will be replacing an electric pole at the corner of 8th Avenue and Pearl Street, adding a new overhead electric line along 8th Avenue from N. High Street to N. Pearl Street.

Crews will also install new underground electric line and equipment:

  • Along Cannon Drive from 12th Avenue to King Avenue.
  • Along King Avenue from Cannon Drive to High Street.
  • Along 7th Avenue from Pearl Street to Indianola Avenue.
  • Along Indianola Avenue from 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue.
  • Along 8th Avenue from Indianola Avenue to Pearl Street.

This work will help meet existing local electric needs and support future growth on the Columbus campus by providing greater overall energy capacity.

  • Target Start: Late-September 2021
  • Target End: December 2021

Work will take place between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Friday.

The project timeline is subject to change pending severe weather or unforeseen conditions.

You may experience a brief power outage when our crews install new electric equipment. These interruptions should not last more than two hours. We will notify you with details in advance of any scheduled outages. Please be sure we have your best contact information at AEPOhio.com/Account in case we need to get in touch.

While our crews are completing this work, our equipment will be set at a more sensitive setting to ensure their safety. The setting shuts off the power if a situation occurs on our equipment that puts our employees at risk. Be assured our field personnel will work to get the power back on as quickly as they safely can. If you have questions, please call our 24-hour Customer Solutions Center at 1.800.672.2231.

Temporary lane restrictions may be needed throughout the construction process. We'll coordinate with local traffic control to minimize the impact while working to ensure safety for the community and our crews.
