AEP Texas crews working to restore electricity after powerful storm Friday

May 15, 2015

A powerful storm producing heavy rains, lightning and strong winds moved quickly through the AEP Texas service territory today, leaving 14,000 consumers without power at its peak. As of 8:30 p.m., 2,000 consumers remain without power, mostly in the Corpus Christi area.

AEP Texas crews will work late into the evening restoring power. Service restoration to most of the affected areas is expected to be completed by late tonight, except for the mid-town and south side areas of Corpus Christi proper. Service restoration in these areas should be completed by Saturday afternoon.

Residents are reminded to consider any downed power lines to be energized and dangerous.  Please call (toll free) 866-223-8508 to report downed lines or to report your outage.
