Make Checks Payable to PSO

January 20, 2005

Beginning this week, Public Service Company of Oklahoma customers now have the option to make their checks payable to PSO when they pay their monthly electric bill.

Previously, checks could only be made payable to American Electric Power, PSO’s parent company.  With this change, customers can make their checks payable to either PSO or AEP.

“This change reflects the reorganization of the American Electric Power system into a structure focused on local operating companies, such as PSO,” said Stuart Solomon, PSO president and chief operating officer.

“Customers can now write their checks to the local company that provides service here in Oklahoma.”

Customer checks for PSO electric service will be forwarded to AEP for processing, regardless of whether they are made payable to PSO or to AEP.

Later this year, the name of the PSO website, PSOklahoma.com, will be listed on the PSO customer bills, as well.

PSO, a unit of American Electric Power, is an electric utility company serving more than 505,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.  Based in Tulsa, PSO has more than 4,000 megawatts of generating capacity and offers some of the lowest energy prices in the United States.

PSO’s parent company, American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), owns more than 36,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States and is the nation´s largest electricity generator.  AEP is also one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, with more than 5 million customers linked to AEP’s 11-state electricity transmission and distribution grid.  The company is based in Columbus, Ohio.
