As the AEP Ohio Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebate Program nears completion we have determined the following schedule. Please make note of the deadlines below to ensure you receive your rebate. Funds not claimed will be reallocated to other projects.

  • All Pre-Applications must be received at, OhioEVCharging@aep.com, no later than 5pm ET October 29, 2021.
  • All customers who have completed installation and activation of their stations as of September 15, 2021 must submit their Final Application and Supporting Documentation to,OhioEVCharging@aep.com, no later than 5pm ET November 15, 2021. Rebates not claimed will be placed back in que for waitlisted customers.
  • All other Final Applications and Supporting Documentation must be submitted to, OhioEVCharging@aep.com, no later than 5pm ET February 28, 2022.

Incentives are available for up to 300 new Level 2 and 75 DC fast charging stations.

Local Government

Incentives for Level 2 Chargers — Max 6 Ports/Customer

Lesser of $50,000, 100% eligible project costs, or $10,000 per port.

Incentives for DC Fast Chargers — Max 2 Stations/Customer

Lesser of $100,000, 100% eligible project costs, or $100,000 per station

Other Public Charging

Incentives for Level 2 Chargers — Max 6 Ports/Customer

Lesser of $50,000, 80% eligible project costs, or $10,000 per port

Incentives for DC Fast Chargers — Max 2 Stations/Customer

Lesser of $100,000, 80% eligible project costs, or $50,000 per station

Workplace Charging

Incentives for Level 2 Chargers — Max 6 Ports/Customer

Lesser of $30,000, 50% eligible project costs, or $5,000 per port

Incentives for DC Fast Chargers — Max 2 Stations/Customer

Not eligible

Multifamily Complex

Incentives for Level 2 Chargers — Max 6 Ports/Customer

Lesser of $45,000, 75% eligible project costs, or $7,500 per port

Low Income Area Assistance

AEP Ohio is dedicated to installing 10% of the EV Charging Stations in areas of limited income. Customers in income eligible census tracts may qualify for greater incentives. To see if your address qualifies, please click here and enter your address in the upper right corner.

Steps to a successful incentive application and award

Customer submits completed Pre-Application forms to verify eligibility, describe planned project, estimate project costs, funds and requested incentive.
AEP Ohio notifies Customer funds reserved based on Pre-Application.
Customer and/or their contractor completes engineering plans, site design, notifies AEP Ohio for service make-ready, obtains permits and easements, and finalizes equipment selection and project cost.
AEP Ohio completes service make-ready work; Customer and/or their contractor completes site make-ready work; City and AEP Ohio complete required inspections if applicable. Customer and/or their contractor install charging equipment.
Customer and/or their contractor energizes the charging equipment and begins data transmission over charging network; AEP Ohio validates data received and acceptable.
Customer submits completed Final Application forms with final, actual project descriptions and costs. AEP Ohio reviews and releases incentive payment.
