The AEP Ohio Community Affairs Managers’ primary role is to be the AEP Ohio liaison with governmental entities and other public organizations for AEP Ohio Distribution, Transmission and Generation. These managers are strategically located throughout the AEP Ohio service territory.
The managers communicate company messages and positions to local government and community leaders. This includes soliciting legislative support, when appropriate, on issues that affect the utility business.
During major outages, the managers work with the local communities in helping to coordinate emergency services. The managers also serve as a direct communication channel for the local municipal employees in regards to the duration of the outage as well as AEP’s plans for restoration.
In addition to these responsibilities, Community Affairs Managers are involved in many aspects of working with the local communities, including:
- Managing contribution and memberships
- Coordinating United Way campaigns for non-plant AEP Ohio facilities
- Coordinate community issues with major distribution, transmission and generation projects
- Serving as local representative with local chambers of commerce
- Securing franchises and handling Right-of-Way ordinance issues
- Working with local schools on education initiatives
- Coordinating computer donation programs
